Mount Light Does the electrical code allow me to mount a light switch outside a room?
I have a laundry room with a single hard to access switch on the inside; the switch is behind the door. I'd like to turn it around so the switch is accessed from outside the room, as one is walking in. There is only one entrance to the room, through a door that cannot be locked.
You could add a switch opposite the one that is already there and put it on the same circuit. That way either one could turn it on but both would need to be off to turn it off. I don't know about code, but that would be the easiest solution. Or a three way. That will meet code I am sure. Plus, you will not have to repair the hole where the old switch was for it will still be there. Hope the information helps!
Led Outdoor How to string paper lanterns in a tent for outdoor wedding>?
Hi,
My wedding is in August and I have a 40 x 60 tent, my Aunt rented bulb lights for the tent... however, I would rather use a ton of chinese lanterns. Does anyone have any ideas for stringing them? I planned on buying LED lights, because we don't want to have to run a generator. Any suggestions? Anyone know where I can buy them in bulk?
Thank for any information you can give me.
I don't know where you are, but there's a company in Vancouver Canada, called Coolite, that sells many paper lanterns. They have a website. The lanterns are very easy to string on light gauge wire or fishing line since they're so light but they don't come with lights in them. The best way to achieve that is probably with Christmas lights, putting one shade over each bulb. If you can get LED lights that are battery-operated, that would work too but then you have to be sure the lights will burn long enough from a battery so you aren't trying to replace batteries halfway through the party. Perhaps you should talk to an electrician and see what you could run off a couple of car batteries, or whether you could get a quiet generator and put it in a box far away to reduce noise.
Call a local party supply place and see what lighting they have for rent, this is a fairly common problem and they may have something you could use for lighting.
Lighting Led I looking for a lighting bulb based on LED? Any idea about commercials solutions?
My friend and I interested in various commercial products for home use as a replacement for regular light bulb, our preferred solution is that it should be based on LED technology.
The perfect thing will be to find a light bulb that is in fact a LED light and can fit any location without any modification, just buy and install.
Try this link: http://www.atgelectronics.com/
I've used a lot of their equipment before for a variety of projects.
Do remember that LEDs can't be dimmed and aren't going to be as bright as their incandescent and fluorescent counterparts, -they're also quite expensive.
Solar Garden My husband says it is too soon in the year to put solar lights in garden. is he right?
I want them in NOW
Thats it,, they are going in!
I did it myself but i didn`t know you had to put the batteries in!
Before putting them out warn air traffic control because they're so bright they could dazzle pilots at 30 000 feet!!!
Sorry - I'll remove my tongue from my cheek - they can go out at anytime but don't expect light bright enough to read by or even light up a passing woodlouse.
Go for low voltage mains lights instead - a bit of a faff but a better option in my opinion.
Leds Lamp Mitsubishi HC 4900 lamp does not come on. 2 green LEDs (Status/Power), Status flashes then pwr goes red?
I have an HC 4900 projector. The lamp coming on is hit or miss. Sometimes it comes on immediately. Other times after about 10 seconds. Other times it will only come on after the 3 or 4th attempt. The behavior is:
1. Power on
2. Status and power light go green
3. After about 20 seconds, the status light flashes green and the power light goes red.
4. After a couple of minutes, the status light goes out and the power light goes red.
Please advise? It was purchased through a home installation company and the service is not so good.
Thanks
Could be a ballast. Depends on the blink code.
Count the number of blinks. They will pause and start again, so you will be able to tell how many blinks the thing is giving you. With that information, call Mitsubishi or a Mits. authorized service center and they will be able to tell you what is wrong.
Solar Landscape What do you think the best alternate energy source is?
It's obvious that the current major source of energy (petroleum) is non-renewable, so it won't last forever. Which source do you think America/the rest of the world should move towards?
Solar power is good, but expensive to set up. Wind power is also very good, but so many people are worried about the windmills ruining the view of the landscape.
Nuclear power seems to be a very good option, but many people are worried about the byproducts or the chance of a meltdown disaster. What they don't realize is that our technology has advanced to protect us from accidents.
As far as I know, the best option seems to be hydrogen power, as you can get hydrogen from water (which covers 3/4 of the earth), and the only byproduct is water.
Nuclear power is the only option, at least in the short term. But the very same ppl who want us to quit using 'fossil fuels' cry about nuclear power being unsafe. The fact is that power generation of any kind is unsafe for someone. Coal mining is dangerous for miners, oil drilling is dangerous for all of civilization due to the terrorist states that possess the oil, etc.
In short, there is no completely safe way to convert from one kind of energy to another. France gets 75% of its power from nuclear plants. Why can't we?
Hydrogen would be nice, but with current technology, it takes more energy to extract the hydrogen from water than the hydrogen yields when used.
My geography teacher has set an unusual riddle/quiz for this week. He releases clues over 4 days, with each days clue more obvious.
Here are this weeks three clues (so far):
1) Light me up in the big time
2) Colour me bronze
3) Who is the Lord of my rings, within rings?
I assume the answer is somewhere in space (very probably, our solar system). I think it is perhaps Saturn (given the rings - although it could relate to any planetary movement as orbits are elliptical anyway).
Any thoughts? It can be on Earth, or occasionally out of earth.
I would guess Jupiter. It also has rings within rings, is a bronze colour and the biggest light of the planets.
Garden Light Electricity scheme to install garden lights on net.?
Who has an electricity scheme, which shows how to install garden light on the electricity net? Like how to connect the coloured cables. And how deep do I have to dig for the cables.
It is not advisable to wire a net in outside due to insulation problems.
The safest way to do it is to install outdoor waterproof sockets and plug the lights into them. Making sure they are on an RCD.
If you are running cables outside though - you will need to use armoured cable.
Solar Yard At a certain location, the solar power per unit area reaching Earth's surface is 200?
At a certain location, the solar power per unit area reaching Earth's surface is 200 W/ m^2, averaged over a 24-hour day. If the average power requirement in your home is 3 kW and you can convert solar power to electric power with 10 % efficiency, how large a collector area will you need to meet all your household energy requirements from solar energy? (Will a collector fit in your yard or on your roof?
Please Help. It would be much appreciated. Thank so much!
It's simple math.
1 m^2 of solar panel generates an average 10%*200 W = 20 W.
You need an average 3000 W, which is 150 times as much, so you need 150 m^2 of solar panel.
An average power of 3000 W is pretty large for a typical house. Is there a sawmill hidden inside?
