Landscape Lighting

Landscape lighting will turn off after a while. Why?

My husband installed our lighting and ever since it will shut off after a while. Then about 5 minutes goes by and it will turn back on. I'm handier than my husband and would like to fix the problem, but he threw away the packaging. BTW-The timer is set correctly.

The transformer is overheating. Most of the transformers have a safety switch that turns them off if they get hot.

A few common causes:

1) too much wattage/too many lights for the transformer. If everything came in one kit, this is probably not the problem. Otherwise, you need to find a copy of the instructions online and see what your transformer can handle.

2) Wire is to small for the length of the run. Again not a likely problem if this is one kit. Check the instructions for this one as well.

3) A short in the system somewhere. If the wire connects to the transformer with screw terminals, make sure that there aren't any stray wires touching both terminals. Check for bad connections along the run. If one of the connections was put on, then taken off and repositioned you can get a short in the original location sometimes.

4) A bad fixture. If all else fails, try removing one at a time and see if the problem goes away.

Is there someone who can authenticate this antique from photo?

I found this frame on eBay. The auction states it's a Victorian. Is there an appraiser/professional who can tell from the pics? It doesn't have to be an actual Victorian, I'd just like to know if the design passes muster or is way off-track. Thanks in advance!

It looks to be more of the Art Nouveau style which overlaps the Victorian Era but would not be considered Victorian in style. By the way, it is the Art Nouveau style that is used in the graphics that frame the photos of the bedstead on eBay. (If it has brass finials and details they must have been painted over.)
